As we’ve mentioned in previous blog posts, the location of Cottonwood Canyon in the midst of Lenexa Kansas brings about an unexpected layer to this communities’ character. Just a short distance from downtown Kansas City, Lenexa finds itself merging quaint, small town charm with forward thinking and a convenient lifestyle. Many who currently live in Cottonwood Canyon find that the restaurants, shops and local attractions of Lenexa enhance their Cottonwood Canyon experience.

Freedom Run
Old Town Lenexa
Wednesday, July 4 at 7am
- Register to be a part of this family friendly run/walk in Old Town Lenexa! Now in its’ 34th year, the Freedom Run offers a 5k or 10k choice for runners and walkers of all fitness levels. This year, nearly 1,600 people are expected to participate in this event that awards prizes in 15 different categories. The course begins on Santa Fe Trail Drive at Pflumm Road. Lenexa Community Days Parade
Old Town Lenexa
Wednesday, July 4 beginning at 10am
- Don’t miss the annual Lenexa Community Days Parade on July 4th! This hometown tradition draws in visitors from all over to experience the joy of Lenexa’s community spirit. Everyone is welcome to gather along the parade route to watch floats, bands, and antique cars from community organizations, clubs and local businesses. All entries are judged and will be awarded prizes following the parade at the Bonjour School. This year’s theme is “All Stars for Freedom” and is a great way to celebrate our freedom.
